Charlie Trumbull

Charlie Trumbull is an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of South Carolina School of Law. His work has been published in the top international law journals in the United States, including Stanford Journal of International Law, Virginia Journal of International Law, Emory International Law Review, Duke Journal of Comparative and International Law, Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law, Michigan Journal of International Law, and Berkeley Journal of International Law.

Before entering academia in 2024, Trumbull served as an attorney-adviser in the Office of the Legal Adviser at the U.S. Department of State. Among other positions, Trumbull was the Legal Adviser to the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, the Deputy Special Envoy for Guantanamo Closure, and the Legal Adviser to the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

Trumbull received his BA from Dartmouth College and his JD from Vanderbilt Law School. He clerked for Judge Michael on the 4 th Circuit Court of Appeals.
