Samuel Oakford (@samueloakford) is a New York based investigative foreign affairs journalist, specializing in coverage of the United Nations and US diplomacy and military affairs. For two years he was bureau chief at the UN Secretariat for VICE News. Currently, he works as an in-house investigative reporter for the civilian casualty monitor Airwars, and is a regular contributor for IRIN News at the UN. In the past year, he has written for the New York Times, Politico Magazine, the Atlantic, the Intercept and helped research and produce “The Funeral Bombing” for the BBC’s Our World Program. In 2016 he was awarded the UN Foundation’s gold medal prize for humanitarian coverage.
