Elie Mugabowishema

Elie Mugabowishema is a Rwandan advocate dedicated to advancing the rights of older people, people with disabilities, and children. He is the founder and CEO of NSINDAGIZA, a Rwandan NGO promoting the rights and welfare of older persons in Rwanda. Mugabowishema also co-founded the Rwanda Aging Platform, the Rwanda Leave No One Behind Network, and the Great Lakes Ageing Network. Mugabowishema is the author of two books, published in Kinyarwanda language: AKABANDO K’IMINSI: Itangiriro rihereza iherezo [Healthy Ageing] and UTAGANIRIYE NA SE NTAMENYA ICYO SEKURU YASIZE AVUZE [Positive Parenting]. In 2019, he was awarded Global Communities’ Diversity and Inclusion Award.
He holds degrees in nursing sciences and sociology and is studying for a master’s degree in humanitarian project management. He lives in Kigali with his wife and 3 children. He is also on LinkedIn.
