Mohibullah Taib
Mohibullah Taib (@TaibMohib) is an experienced diplomat with a decade of work in Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focusing on human and women’s rights. He holds a master’s degree in International Law in Armed Conflict from the Geneva Academy and a graduate degree in International Relations from Selcuk University, Turkiye. Currently, he serves as the Human Rights Counsellor for Afghanistan’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva.
Despite challenges, he continued to use the Human Rights Council platform to amplify the voice of people of Afghanistan under the control of Taliban’s brutal regime. As Human Rights Counsellor, he actively highlights human rights abuses at the UN Human Rights Council, including the 31st Special Session on Afghanistan. He played a crucial role in establishing a Special Rapporteur on Afghan human rights, represented Afghanistan in various Human Rights Council sessions, and helped extend the Special Rapporteur’s mandate. Additionally, he promotes engagement between Afghanistan’s Mission to the UN and OHCHR Human Rights Treaty Bodies for oversight of rights violations in Afghanistan. He is also on LinkedIn.
