Megan L. Manion
Megan L. Manion is a Senior Legal Advisor to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism. She is also a Senior Fellow with the Human Rights Center at the University of Minnesota Law School.
Previously, Megan held various roles with UN Women. She most recently worked as Programme Specialist on Justice and Security at UN Women Afghanistan based in Kabul where her work focused on women’s meaningful participation in the intra-Afghan dialogue and the security sector. Prior to that, she worked as a Policy Analyst at UN Women headquarters where her work focused on gender and women’s human rights in the context of counter-terrorism, preventing violent extremism, and transitional justice.
She received her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School and B.A. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin Madison as a Fulbright-Hays Scholar. Follow her on Twitter @megleighmanion.
