Dr. Matt Mahmoudi is the interim Head of the Silicon Valley Initiative, and Researcher & Advisor on Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights at Amnesty International. Matt was the lead author of their ‘Automated Apartheid’ report. He’s Affiliated Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Cambridge, is a co-editor on Resisting Borders & Technologies of Violence (Haymarket, 2024), and author of Migrants in the Digital Periphery: New Urban Frontiers of Control (University of California Press, 2025).
