Eguiar Lizundia (@eguiar) is the Deputy Director for Technical Advancement at the International Republican Institute, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization working to advance democracy around the world. In his current role, he is responsible for overseeing the development of global programmatic approaches that tackle pressing democratic governance challenges, including corruption and kleptocracy. Previously, Eguiar worked on public sector reform in Latin America and Africa at the World Bank. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, an International Diploma from Sciences Po Paris and a Master’s of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. Eguiar writes regularly for Spanish media outlets and has published opinion pieces in The American Interest, The Hill and The Diplomatic Courier, among others.
