Monika Y. Langarica (@mylangarica) is a staff attorney with the Center for Immigration Law and Policy at UCLA School of Law. She is based in San Diego, California. The daughter of Mexican immigrants who settled in San Diego, Monika was born and raised in the borderlands. Prior to joining CILP, Monika was the immigrants’ rights staff attorney at the ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties, where she engaged in impact litigation, strategic direct representation, local, state, and federal policy advocacy, and community education efforts to defend and advance the rights of immigrants and migrants in the border region. Monika is counsel in Doe v. Mayorkas, a lawsuit challenging the government’s denial of access to counsel in MPP nonrefoulement interviews.
