Željko Komšić

Željko Komšić is a member of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s tripartite presidency, serving his fourth term as the Croat member, first from 2006 to 2014 as the candidate of the Social Democratic Party of BiH, and currently since 2018 as the candidate of the Democratic Front party, which he founded in 2013.
He previously served as the Mayor of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo, as a parliamentarian in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s House of Representatives, and as Sarajevo’s first ambassador to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
For his service in the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH) during the war in the 1990s, he was awarded the Golden Lily for military bearing and bravery in 1995, the highest honors granted to uniformed members of the RBiH.
He is a graduate of the University in Sarajevo Law School and further attended Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Washington, D.C. He is married and is father to one daughter.
