Amanda Klasing

Amanda Klasing (@AMKlasing) is National Director of Government Relations and Advocacy at Amnesty International USA, where she leads a team of advocacy directors and fellows engaging with the United States government on global human rights issues and to advance a human rights policy agenda. Prior to joining Amnesty International USA, she launched and led the US Democracy Initiative in 2022 and co-directed the Women’s Rights Division from 2018 to 2021 at Human Rights Watch, where she also was a fellow, researcher and senior researcher. She has served as a social justice fellow at RFK Human Rights. She is a founding member of the Human Rights Methodology Lab.
Klasing has published numerous human rights reports, human rights-related articles in academic journals, including most recently in the Annual Review of Law and Social Scienceopens in a new tab, and contributed to an academic book on health and human rights. She has appeared on various national and international media outlets, including CNN, the BBC, CBC, DW, Al Jazeera and NPR, and has published in a wide range of international media outlets, including The Globe and Mail, O Globo, Sydney Morning Herald, The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientist, Newsweek, and Devex.
She holds a Master’s degree in social sciences from the University of Chicago, and a law degree from New York University. She is also on LinkedIn.
