Derek Jinks

Derek Jinks (@djinks) is the Marrs McLean Professor in Law at the University of Texas School of Law. He served as the Charles H. Stockton Professor of International Law at the U.S. Naval War College for 2009-2010. He has also held visiting professorships at Harvard Law School, the University of Chicago Law School, and the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Since 2006, Professor Jinks has been a member of the U.S. Secretary of State’s Advisory Committee on International Law. His books include Socializing States: Promoting Human Rights through International Law (Oxford 2013) (with Ryan Goodman) and Understanding Social Action, Promoting Human Rights (Oxford 2012) (co-edited with Ryan Goodman and Andrew Woods), and The Rules of War: The Geneva Conventions in an Age of Terror (Oxford forthcoming). Professor Jinks is also on LinkedIn.
