Dr. Vijeth Iyengar (@VijethIyengar), Ph.D., (he/him/his) is the Director of Global Aging at AARP where he leads cutting-edge research, drives thought leadership on global aging issues, and cultivates relationships and strategic alliances.
Prior to joining AARP, he served in a variety of roles in the U.S. federal government, including as Brain Health Lead and Technical Advisor to the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Aging in the Department of Health and Human Services, and as a Policy Advisor to the Chief Technology Officer at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
Dr. Iyengar serves as a Salzburg Global Fellow, a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, and as an Advisor to Ashoka’s New Longevity Initiative. Among other recognitions, he was a Presidential Management Fellow (PMF), selected as an Aspen Ideas Festival Health Fellow, and a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellow.
A native of Louisiana, he was a visiting undergraduate student at Cornell University, and received his bachelor’s degree from Tulane University, and his masters and doctoral degrees from Duke University. He is on LinkedIn.
