Phil Hirschkorn is a fellow at the Center On National Security at Fordham Law School and a New York-based journalist who has been covering Al Qaeda and terrorism trials for 15 years, including the East Africa embassy bombings trials; the Zacarias Moussaoui trial for 9/11; the “enemy combatant” cases of Jose Padilla, Ali al-Marri, and Yaser Hamdi; “home grown” cases ranging from the Buffalo Six to the Newburgh Four; and the prosecutions of Suleiman Abu Ghaith and Abu Hamza. His articles have appeared in numerous national publications, including Rolling Stone, The Atlantic, and Politico, and on the websites of CBS News and CNN, two networks where he previously worked. He is currently working on a book about the war on terror in court. He previously was an editor of and contributor to the book “Covering Catastrophe: Broadcast Journalists Report September 11.”
