Keith Hiatt

Keith Hiatt (LinkedIn, Bluesky) leads the Information Systems Management Section at the United Nations International, Impartial, and Independent Mechanism for Syria (IIIM), where he is responsible for evidence management, internet exploitation, information security, and technology. Prior to joining the United Nations, Mr. Hiatt served as vice president at Benetech and director of the Technology Program at the Human Rights Center at the University of California, Berkeley. While in those roles, Mr. Hiatt helped launch the Berkeley Human Rights Investigations Lab, co-chaired the Technology Advisory Board of the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, and served on the Board of Trustees for Bellingcat.
Mr. Hiatt earned degrees from the University of Washington and UC Berkeley School of Law, then clerked for the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Prior to law school, he worked as a software engineer at Microsoft and an applied technology specialist at Boeing.
