Ali A Hersi

Ali Hersi (@A_HERSI) is currently Saferworld’s Somalia / Somaliland Country Director. He is a Program development and management professional with over 20 years’ experience in leadership, program design and implementation in national and international non-governmental organizations. Ali has managed diverse, multi-million dollar programs in the areas of emergency relief & rehabilitation, peace-building & conflict resolution as well as food security & livelihoods, in Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia and South Sudan. He has supported various research and public policy engagements in the Greater Horn / EAC, national and county levels. These have included Futures work and Scenario Planning in Kenya, Somalia, East Africa Community and Mozambique. Ali has an M.A. International Relations, from University of Warsaw, Poland and second M.A. Peace & Justice, from the University of San Diego, on Fulbright and Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships.
