Nayna Gupta (Bluesky – LinkedIn – X) is Policy Director at the American Immigration Council, where she leads the Council’s legislative, administrative, and policy advocacy portfolio. Nayna previously served for four years as Associate Director and Director of Policy at the National Immigrant Justice Center. Prior to her work in Washington D.C., Nayna represented immigrants facing detention and deportation as an immigration and civil rights litigator in California. Nayna’s expertise focuses on immigration enforcement, immigration detention, and the intersection of the immigration and criminal legal systems. She frequently appears on major national news networks and podcasts to help Americans better understand the U.S. immigration system. Nayna started her career as a law clerk to the Honorable Myron H. Thompson. She is an adjunct immigration law professor at Howard Law School and a graduate of Stanford Law School and Northwestern University. She is also a proud immigrant.
