Dr. Michele Bratcher Goodwin (@michelebgoodwin) is a Chancellor’s Professor at the University of California, Irvine and Director of the Center for Biotechnology & Global Health Policy. She is an elected member of the American Law Institute, the Hastings Center, and an elected Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. She also serves on the Executive Committee of the ACLU.
She is an acclaimed constitutional law scholar and bioethicist. She is the author/editor of six books and articles appearing published in the California Law Review, Cornell Law Review, Harvard Law Review, Michigan Law Review, NYU Law Review, Northwestern Law Review, and the Yale Law Journal, among others. A frequent commentator, she has published and been quoted in the L.A. Times, NY Times, Washington Post, Forbes, Salon.com, Slate, Politico, among other publications. She is the author of “Policing The Womb: Invisible Women and the Criminalization of Motherhood” (2020).
