Ward Ferdinandusse (LinkedIn) is the Deputy Specialist Prosecutor at the Kosovo Specialist Prosecutor’s Office, which investigates and prosecutes war crimes and crimes against humanity in the period 1998-2000 as well as obstruction of justice offences. As prosecutor in the Dutch National Public Prosecutor’s Office in 2008-2021, Ferdinandusse worked on criminal cases, extradition proceedings and investigations into international crimes including genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, torture, piracy and terrorism, as well as the Flight MH17 trial. In 2014-2018 he was professor by special appointment in International Criminal Law at the University of Groningen. Ferdinandusse attended the University of Amsterdam and Columbia Law School. His publications include Direct Application of International Criminal Law in National Courts (2006), and the Kooijmans Lecture 2024: “International Criminal Law in Times of Turmoil”.
