Michael Fakhri
Michael Fakhri (@MichaelFakhri) is the UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food. He is also a Professor at the University of Oregon School of Law where he teaches international law, commercial law, and food and agriculture law. His books include Sugar and the Making of International Trade Law (CUP) and Bandung, Global History, and International Law (co-edited with Luis Eslava and Vasuki Nesiah). Fakhri received his doctorate from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, LL.M. from Harvard Law School, LL.B. from Queen’s University, and B.Sc. in biology from the University of Western Ontario. Prior to pursuing graduate studies, he began his legal career with one of Canada’s leading business law firms, later shifting to a practice in social justice advocacy.
