Jonathan E. Cohen, JD MPhil (he/him/his) (@JonCohenNYC) is a Clinical Professor of Population and Public Health Sciences at the University of Southern California. He is Director of Policy Engagement for the USC Institute on Inequalities in Global Health, leading the expansion of USC’s global health work to the university’s Capital Campus in Washington, DC. An emerging leader in the field of population aging, Cohen was a Health and Aging Policy Fellow in the U.S. Senate and a Visiting Scholar at the Hastings Center studying healthy longevity in sexual and gender minorities. In 2023, he joined the board of HelpAge USA. Prior to his academic appointment, Cohen led programs at the Open Society Foundations to advance human rights and equity in global health and worked as a researcher with the HIV/AIDS Program at Human Rights Watch.
He holds degrees from Yale College, the University of Cambridge, and the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. He is also on LinkedIn.
