Denis Bećirović
Denis Bećirović is a member of the tripartite Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, elected in October 2022 and taking office the following month. He previously served from 2018 to 2022 as a delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one of the two chambers of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Prior to that, from 2006 to 2010 and from 2014 to 2018, he was a representative in the other chamber, the House of Representatives. From 2010 to 2014, he held the position of chairman/deputy chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
President Bećirović is from Tuzla, where he attended primary and secondary school and graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Tuzla in 1998. He completed postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Sarajevo from 2000 to 2002, and graduated from there in 2004 with a Master of Historical Sciences. He received his doctorate from the same Faculty in 2010, earning a doctorate in Historical Sciences.
He was elected to the position of associate professor at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Tuzla in 2017. He is the author of four books and more than 40 original scientific and professional papers in various scientific journals in the country and abroad. He is a member of the Committee for Historical Sciences at the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He has received several national and international recognitions and awards for his work on human rights and civil liberties. He is married and the father of two children.
