We are delighted to announce that Dani Schulkin has joined Just Security as Director of Democracy Initiatives.

Most recently, Schulkin served as Senior Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General and Senior Advisor to the Homeland Security Advisor at the White House. She began her government service in the Office of the Staff Secretary, working on the team charged with reviewing all presidential briefing memos and executive actions, and has also held roles at the Administrative Conference of the United States (ACUS), the New York Attorney General’s Bureau of Internet and Technology, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York. Her work in these roles has spanned national security, democratic governance, and administrative law.

This is an especially meaningful moment because Schulkin began her legal career here, as a Just Security Legal Fellow. Among other contributions, she led the creation of the Student Staff Editor program, which now includes law students from NYU, Yale, Harvard, and Oxford who play important roles in Just Security projects, and she has helped to grow new generations of the Just Security community. In her new role, she will be instrumental in the expansion and deepening of our ongoing democracy and rule of law work.

We are so pleased to have Schulkin back on the Just Security team, bringing her important expertise at this critical moment in our work.
